Last post by Troid41 - Jun 17, 2026, 02:40 AMRunning a Minecraft server can get pretty demanding and really take up a lot of your time, I can say from experience since I ran some different servers with my friend for a couple years. You open one thinking it'll be a side thing, or just a medium through which you can tell a story and maybe change the medium after a while but no! It really does become its own thing. xD
Also that's good to know :p I'll be looking forward to that then. So what does the skeleton in usersplayground.com mean then? Or is it part of the super duper secret YAM lore that seems to have been revealing itself slowly over time (or not, maybe I've just been connecting non existent dots this whole time lol)

I've been digging for a while for something for Vtubing and it is pretty frustrating looking for something that meets your needs specially if you have a very specific goal in mind, almost makes you want to create your own tool but as soon as I looked up how to do it I already gave up looking at the documentation ;_;

Last post by GRIDHOG - Jun 16, 2026, 10:02 AMThanks! part of me really wants to dig into those more high-technical-effort(or patience)-zero-cost options and the other part of me is like "i got 1 program working. im happy. im content" lmaoo
I know someone who does vtuber rigging stuff and its really crazy what people are able to achieve. i tried it myself but i don't even really use blender (lags real bad for me) so trying to work with the technical standard gets a bit awkward. (especially since i was doing a low poly texture based face, which i KNOW is possible to make responsive to tracking. somehow.......)
I like the kinect because since its so old it's pretty well compatible with my computer as opposed to like high end Ai Webcam stuff, on the other its kinda funny how i've run into incompatibilities with dependencies because i accidentally downloaded the 32 bit version of something thats incompatible with a 64 bit version of a thing and vice versa. i imagine you don't really have to worry about that kind of thing with more modern setups

I just got a proper guitar controller after years of wanting/half looking for one and beat the game in basically one day. have most of the bonus tracks to work my way through and to start mastering some tracks on medium before trying out hard mode. not even gonna try expert. also need to get rock band started and already I think I need a second controller...

Last post by yeebus - Jun 16, 2026, 02:33 AMoh man lots. i dont think we're going back to the minecraft server for a long time. we ended up getting a bunch of minecraft fans as opposed to yam fans who happen to also play minecraft, and it was expensive running a game server like that.
anyways, the forum was just a fun "easy" idea we got after seeing some other communities with forums (reject convenience's, agora road that rick tempest likes)
the idea with users playground as a whole was in a slightly more literal sense supposed to be a playground for users LAWL
so there is gonna be a much more substantial landing page on UsersPlayground.com (sans "/forum") that acts as a hub to get to the forum, get to some little web games, maybe some browser tools, and other silly things like code monkey. of course, as with anything yam related, and just like the main yam homepage well have some easter eggs and silly things

The program MikuMikuDance has inbuilt kinect compatibility but turns out setting up just about anything with a kinect is a total pain with 50 different dependencies every time. incredibly fortunate someone made a spinoff program (mikumikucapture) thats been so far the only thing i've gotten working
Anyone else mess around with motion capture? I know nowadays you can do a lot with just normal cameras and ARkit, especially since vtubing is so big. for some reason i always had trouble with other options though, be it paywalls, technical limitations, or skill issues.

I have this one on CD. I think its the only game ost i have on cd, but i know i have some movie osts on cd too (namely suckerpunch, run lola run, and trainspotting. actually speaking of suckerpunch...)
