You actually can learn the ropes pretty easily - the enter knowledge on map editor like Trenchbroom is not that demanding and you can begin mapping for virtually any ID tech game or for any other game that has Trenchbroom intergration like Cruelty Squad. Give it a go, it's indeed a lot of fun! :)

just watched this, and it was particularly intriguing. These little landscapes look like they'd be really fun to adventure through

thanks for sharing! excited to check all those out eventually.
that is definitely a cute concept. the Yam team toyed with the idea of making a little game like that, though it will probably be a few more years till something like that comes to fruition lol.

and keep us updated on the jam if you manage to participate!

wow we have some pretty talented artists in our forum already, this is super cool... and I feel people are usually too worried about sharing wips, even when they look super cool like this so thank you!! you guys really got the vibe down well. I hope you guys can finish it soon! please show us the final product whenever its done :)

and regarding the compression... yeah it kinda sucks we have such a low file size limit, but we can't overfill our small server at the moment, we do hope that we can expand it in the future but that means more $$$$$ :'(((

Art / WIP art piece based on F&H: Te...
Last post by Morgaen_Rei - Feb 03, 2026, 02:39 AM
Here is some fun exploration of combining pre-made backgrounds in Quake and art retouche.

Me and my friend are huge fans of F&H series, so we decided to make a small piece as a reminder of a one in-game fishing mechanic from an upcoming update that we helped to debug properly.

We are also a Sonic fans so naturally our first thought when confronted with any sort of fishing, was "Big!" with his own esoteric fishing game.

The background was composed and retouched by me with a guidance of my good friend, and she drew the characters. WE are still planning to finish it one day, but as of now we are quite busy with other stuff in our daily lives, but I still wanted to show what kinda of things are possible to pull off by combining premade 3D backgrounds with a handdrawn characters.

Oh wow, this got quite big (pun intended!)
Anyway, if you have any questions or comments feel free to drop some, I would love to hear all your thoughts and impressions! Keep in mind that's still WIP!

Apologies for abysmall colors, but color compression is a bitch and limit is just above 5mgb and I'm far too lazy to set up an external link... Can we do something about that?
