I may or may not have been waiting to post this ever since YAMUM's second volume launched, because... I found your secret :-X

Right after the table of contents, there is a wall of binary:

It translates to "be the first to post this secret on usersplayground.com forums to be in the hall of fame". So you can guess why I was in such a hurry to post about it, so I could claim the spot.  8)

The Japanese text revealed a secret I already knew, but I still went to the code monkey just in case you guys added something, and ended up going on probably one of the most pointless side-quests I've done  :'(

Basically when I clicked on Asaklair's corner head icon thingy, the gif that appeared on Code Monkey's thought bubble looked like a QR code, and for some reason I immediately thought this was all part of a bigger puzzle. But before I could take a screenshot, the bubble disappeared. And what did I do? The logical thing of course! I inspected the page, and found where you linked the GIFs and WEBP files, hoping to find a list. Which I didn't. What did I do? The logical thing of course! I spent more than an hour clicking on the code monkey, seeing every different GIF until I finally found the "QR Code". Only to find out that it was just noise... I am truly devastated by this discovery.

Here's what I found while taking on this dumb quest:

Funny code monkey

Creepy Asaklair(?)

This one was just titled "Monster"

And finally, the "QR Code" that started it all:

Overall, this was a really cool volume of YAMUM! Read it like 5 or so times, because I obviously had to drag my friends to read it through with me. And because the cover this time was really sick, I just had to go to my local printer shop and get it as a poster  8)

This whole project is amazing and truly inspiring, from the main website, to this forum and even the WKBR MechNet Radio! It really makes you want to go out and create as well, no matter what. I am always surprised that this whole thing isn't more known for some reason, but who knows, maybe this will be yall's year. Because it'd be really cool if others saw this sick ass beacon of inspiration  ;D

oh my goodness this is awesome! Thank you for the very kind words about what we are doing here and also congrats on being the first to crack the code and post about it! Of course, as you know, the forum was supposed to be up ever since the release of the second volume but pretty bad errors got in the way lol. It feels good being at the start of a new year and having this place rolling again. I think it will be a good year for all of us. Yeebus is gonna love your little journey with code monkey, we have had quite a few people experience similar incidents  :-X

Also, seeing that poster on your wall is incredibly meaningful that a small project like this would even have a single person interested enough to go out and print a poster. I appreciate you! I hope you have a good time here on users playground as we start this early process of getting more people over here. I am gonna knock on wood after typing this, but it seems to be in good shape this time.

im assuming you did the same code cracking with the back cover of volume 2 then? hehehe...

and seeing that printed is wonderful! we did actually make some prints of the full magazines and maybe in the far future we plan to be able to sell some or at least distribute some around. no primises, but I think wed all enjoy that.

aw this is sweet! to think someone would be so invested in our project is really warming for the soul... thank you for all your kind words and all your effort! And I'm sure there's still lots to explore, and lots to come when we flesh out the site and deepen its pores and interstices :pp

like the boys said, its really heartening to see anything about our baby Yam displayed up on a wall! We've got lots of plans and we'll continue to work diligently, continuing to build our mechanisms and imbue them with souls...

And yes, I think this is yoty (year of the yam ^v^)
